It’s About Love. Choose It

Let’s talk about Jesus. There are three main points I plan to elaborate on.

  1. Jesus loves everyone, and gives everyone the Choice to love him in return.
  2. What attracted people to become followers of Jesus?
  3. What does Jesus call those who believe in him and love him to do?

Thanks to Jesus I CHOSE to become a child of God. Christians are people who believe that Jesus died on the cross for all our wrong doings, and he came back to life 3 days later. There are many denominations of Christians. Each denomination (Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Episcopalian, etc.) has its own set of guidelines or rules they TRY to follow daily. We all have 1 thing in common, Jesus. When any person CHOOSES to believe in Jesus and follow his ways, they are a Child of God.

 1. Jesus loves everyone, and gives everyone the Choice to love him in return.

God has given humans rules or guidelines to follow (The Old Testament population had it much harder than we did, but that’s for another article) . HOWEVER, he has also given humankind freewill. Jesus has never forced anyone to do what he wants. People were FREE to choose their path. For every action there is a reaction or consequence. Some consequences are good, others, not so much. The Bible says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short…” Romans 3:23. Humankind (Christian or non-Christian) makes mistakes, messes up… In other words, people sin. We are all human, no one is better than another. WE ARE NOT PERFECT. It is OK to mess up. That being said, most of the time our mess ups are from the CHOICES we make. Bottomline, according to the Bible we have been given the GIFT of freewill. We were never forced by God to love him in return, but that’s what makes his love that much sweeter. We are able to choose to love this God that loves us so wonderfully back

2. What attracted people to become followers of Jesus?

While Jesus was on this Earth, he gained many followers. How did he gain his followers? Did he force them into submission? Did he use scare tactics? Did he influence the leaders of the Government? No. Jesus did none of that. Jesus invested in ALL the people. He saw the “unseen” people of society. He paid attention to the women and children. Jesus let the beggars be heard. He spent time with the Swindlers of society (tax collectors, prostitutes, lepers, and demon-possessed). Then he healed them! He healed their ailments AND their hearts. Jesus’ tactic was LOVE. Jesus loved everyone for who they were, not because of the amount of money they had or power they held.

3. What does Jesus call those who believe in him and love him to do?

This next portion is for my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. We have been given a job. It is not to pass judgement on those around us. We are not called to make others follow our beliefs. We are called to LOVE. “… Love your neighbor as yourself.” Leviticus 19:18. I discovered this statement in at least 7 different books of the Bible. If God is repeating it this much, IT HAS TO BE IMPORTANT. Jesus didn’t tell us to only love those who love him or follow the same rules as us. We should follow his example. LOVE everyone; especially the people who are hurting, who’s choices got them in a sticky predicament. How can we save lives? By showing hurting people what the POWER of Jesus’ LOVE can do in their life.
